Heather's Story

Growing up, she faced certain health challenges including a family history of clinical depression, a reading disorder and crippling dysmenorrhea. Through these trials, she found healing in yoga, East Asian theosophy and natural medicine. After graduating from University of Wisconsin-Madison with an Integrative Biology degree, she gave up her free-spirited, hippie-chick ways to enter the grueling field of corporate sales. From there, she transitioned to the purchasing field where she climbed to the highest non-management level in the supply chain department as senior corporate buyer. Despite her success, she felt a growing dissatisfaction with her occupational choices and, through introspection, decided to return to her roots in natural medicine. Given her interest in all things East Asian, Chinese Medicine became a perfect fit and she never looked back.

Heather’s mission and purpose is to form a partnership with her patients to finding the right combination of natural medicine and lifestyle transformations to set them back on the path of healing. She views her patients as her extended family, treating them with compassion and loving-kindness that is so necessary in the health field.

When she is not happily treating her patients or studying her 5000-year-old medicine, Heather spends her time practicing qigong, meditating, snuggling with her husband, two dogs and being a servant to her two very selfish, superior-minded cats.

"Heather, I just want to thank you for the wonderful work, my headaches and my stress had decreased, almost disappeared since my acupuncture session with you. It was an amazing experience, and I cannot wait for another session.  Before my session with you, my headaches were so persistent that I had MRI tests but they didn’t find anything wrong, doctor said it was stress and I had a prescription for the headache that made me feel sleepy and unable to drive…yes, the side effects from the medicine were worse than the headaches.  I was really looking for an alternative and then I found you…Thank you!:)" – Vania L.

"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for Heather Sullivan, for her work as an acupuncturist, and for who she is as a person and health practitioner.  Not only was Heather able to help me with her skills as an acupuncturist (when I was in much pain), but she also took a genuine interest in my overall physical, emotional and mental health and well-being.  She is a hands-on healer, doing positive energy work with her hands as each session progresses (and the needles are in place). During one treatment I told Heather about my grown daughter (who lives in Charlotte, NC) whose health problems have been serious for years.  She has had several surgeries, but traditional medicine has been of little help.  Heather suggested acupuncture, but I explained we didn’t know how to find a good practitioner.  Heather offered to help. She took it upon herself to search the Internet, to call practitioners in the Charlotte area and interview them by phone as to their specific training and skills. She was able to find a wonderful acupuncturist who within a short period of time has already helped…and who (in turn) found another doctor who has helped Megan with different and better medications.  We are so very grateful.  I believe Heather is a true healer with a keen interest in being of service to others in a myriad of ways.  I’m glad to know Heather as an acupuncturist…and to experience her generous, thoughtful, kind and loving spirit.” – Sara D
